TEMP/PRN PHYSICAL THERAPIST
Sumner Community Hospital is looking for a Temporary and/or PRN Physical Therapist to assist with Coverage starting in May.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, Other duties may be assigned.

Reviews Physician�s referral (prescription) and patient�s condition and medical records to determine physical therapy treatment required.

Tests and measures patient�s strength, range of motion, motor development, sensory perception and functional capacity, and records findings to develop or review treatment programs.

Plans and prepares written treatment program based on evaluation of patient data.

Administers therapeutic exercises to improve and maintain function.

Instructs, motivates, and assists patient to perform various physical activities and in the use of assistant and supportive devices such as crutches, canes, walkers, orthotics and prostheses.

Administers treatments involving application of physical agents such as pelvic and cervical traction, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, cold pack, hot pack, paraffin bath, iontophoresis and whirlpool.

Evaluates effects of treatment at various stages and adjusts treatments to achieve maximum benefit.

Administers spinal and joint mobilization, myofacial release, and manual therapy.

Administers wound care including debridement as needed.

Records treatment, response, and progress in patient�s chart.

Instructs patient and family in treatment procedures to be continued at home.

Evaluates, fits, and adjusts prosthetic and orthotic devices and recommends modifications to Orthotist or Prosthetist.

Confers with Physician and other practitioners to obtain additional patient information, suggest revisions in treatment program, and integrate physical therapy treatment with other aspects of patient�s health care.

Orients, instructs, and directs work activities of assistants, aides, and students.

Plans and conducts lectures and training programs on physical therapy and related topics for medical staff, students, and community groups.

In absence of department receptionist, may be asked to assist at department desk answering telephone, returning messages and scheduling patients.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises 2 to 3 Certified Physical Therapy Assistants. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization�s policies and applicable laws.

Education and/or Experience
Master�s or Doctorate Degree from an accredited school of physical therapy; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
